Paul Milam, Our Founder

Paul Milam, founder of Samara Land Partners, is a nationally recognized real estate consultant with over 4 decades of real estate experience in residential sales and marketing as well as commercial sales and development of premier and residential communities.

Milam has a long record of successfully guiding local, semi-local and national clients with their residential and commercial real estate acquisitions. Starting his career in 1978 in Charleston, West Virginia, he sold homes with a local franchised real estate office before taking over as the Assistant Director of Sales for Smith Mountain Realty in Moneta, Virginia in 1981. Leading an entire sales division over the next five years, Paul was involved with selling 12 lakefront resort communities on Smith Mountain Lake.

In 1986, Paul moved to Wilmington, North Carolina and began working with mentor and friend, Don Gilstrap of DG Enterprises, LTD. As a broker in Wrightsville Beach, Paul and associate Randall Williams opened their real estate brokerage, Milam Williams & Associates, and sold more than $600 million in resort properties over the next five years.

In 1991 he started Wilmington SeaCoast Properties and in 1993, Paul franchised his brokerage with Coldwell Banker. Starting with just two agents, Paul organically grew the company, Coldwell Banker SeaCoast to more than 125 agents five years later at the time of the sale of his company and # 2 in market share in New Hanover County, NC.

From 1997 on, Paul and his wife Virginia started Henson Realty LLC and focused on new home developments and new builder inventory at Lake Hogan Farms in Chapel Hill, NC and then Henson Farms, Henson Forest, Autumn Lake, Riverside, and various communities in the Triad (Greensboro-High Point-Winston Salem). From 1997 to 2007, Henson Realty, LLC purchased over 3000 acres of land in NW Guilford County and developed over 1500 and sold the balance of land for development and a state park.

Paul holds the distinguished Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) certification from the National Association of Realtors and the Realtors Land Institute, joining an elite group of over 500 land specialists across the globe. ALCs represent the most prestigious, accomplished, and experienced land experts. He also holds the designations of Certified Senior Advisor (CSA), Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), and Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES).

Throughout his 40-year career, Paul has been fortunate to have the guidance of six mentors who instilled in him the importance of giving back to others. This principle serves as the foundation of his program, which is dedicated to teaching others how to succeed in land development. His ultimate goal is that once you achieve success, you pay it forward by sharing your knowledge and helping others do the same.
